I like waistcoats. I also like wearing them with no jacket on when it’s warm enough.
Yeah, that might not be all kosher with the most conservative menswear rules, but I don’t think I mind.
A well-fitted waistcoat creates a more defined shape than just a shirt, even if not as much as a jacket. It’s informal, and even if it is a little dandy, I think it falls well within acceptable bounds for someone like me.
And this allows me to show off some of the details of the shirt, like the shirred sleeve head. I think this shirt was one of my best recent purchases – I love the one-piece collar, the fabric, and the fade.
The waistcoat itself is made of 120s Reda wool in gun club check. I could have a jacket in this fabric, yeah; something like this is on my buying list. It is a great pattern and colour palette.
