The most classic combo other than a suit is a navy jacket and gray trousers. In this summer version, I decided on a bit lighter colours.

These are all very lightweight clothes made out of open-weave fabrics, so they’re comfortable to wear even when it’s quite warm outside. At the same time, they’ll be a bit more formal than wrinkled linen.

I loved this unlined wool and silk jacket the moment I saw it – the colour was gorgeous. So I bought it despite it being a size larger than I usually wear. It was taken in at the waist twice, the first time by a tailor, and the second – by me. This latter alteration resulted in me wearing it a lot lately, because it fixed the flaring around the hips which bothered me a lot.

It’s incredibly light and I barely even feel it on me, which is quite a nice feat for a not very expensive off-the-rack jacket.

Trousers are made of light gray Super 120s wool from Vitale Barberis Canonico, and were produced by Benevento. I was looking for this kind of fabric for a while now, and I’ve envisioned this kind of trousers in my minimal spring-summer smart casual wardrobe.

I’m quite picky when it comes to trousers – I don’t like belt loops, I opt for braces buttons and side adjusters instead. I’m a fan of cuffs, and a leg that’s narrow at the bottom, but not so narrow in the knee and thigh. I like higher waist. Almost all my preferences were met – I would only wish for a proper, deeper pleat. The one I got is barely there.

I’ve also been looking at Berg&Berg for quite some time, planning to buy some stuff from them. So during their last sale I got myself this beautiful blue printed silk tie. It’s very lightweight and untipped, so works well with the rest of the outfit.

The pocket square is the only thing which is not in a cold colour palette. But it’s folded in a way which shows only a little bit of it. Its pattern is actually very pretty, but exposing more of it might work with a different ensemble, based on brown and beige perhaps.
